Crosby Beach – Coastal Walks with Space and Sculpture

Crosby Beach offers one of the most distinctive coastal walks in the Liverpool area.

It’s best known for the Another Place sculptures by Antony Gormley, which stretch out into the sea. Because of that, it feels a bit different from your typical beach. You’ve got art, open space, and long coastal views all in one place.

At low tide, the beach opens up massively, so you can walk out much further and really stretch your legs. So whether you’re sticking to the promenade or heading onto the sand, there’s plenty to explore.

Visiting with Your Dog

Crosby Beach is a popular spot for dog walkers, and it suits dogs that enjoy open space and longer walks.

There’s plenty of room, especially when the tide is out. However, it’s important to be aware of local restrictions, as some areas of the beach may require dogs to be on leads during certain times of year.

The promenade is a shared path with walkers and cyclists, so keeping your dog under control is important there. On the beach itself, you’ll often find more space, but it’s still worth staying aware, especially near the sculptures and changing tides.

If you’re after a quieter experience, heading further along the beach or visiting at off-peak times will help.

What to Expect

Expect a wide, open beach with a steady flow of people.

It’s popular, but the scale of it means it rarely feels cramped. The sculptures add something unique, and the changing tide keeps each visit slightly different.

Facilities are available nearby, and it’s easy to turn a walk into a longer outing with cafés and parking close by.

Crosby Beach is a strong dog friendly option if you want space, fresh air, and something a bit different from a standard beach walk.

Before visiting, it’s always worth checking Sefton Council guidance for any seasonal dog restrictions or tide safety updates.
