Its central location makes it easy to combine with shopping, dining, or a day exploring Chester’s historic streets.

What makes Chester Picturehouse particularly special for dog owners is its regular dog friendly cinema screenings.

Visiting with Your Dog

Chester Picturehouse hosts dedicated dog friendly screenings throughout the year.

During these special events, well-behaved dogs can join their owners for a cinema trip. The screenings are designed with dogs in mind and include reduced volume levels, lower lighting, water bowls, and blankets for canine guests.

These events usually take place on selected Sunday mornings and offer a fun way for dog owners to enjoy a film without leaving their companion at home.

The cinema asks that dogs sit on a blanket-covered seat during the screening. This helps keep the cinema comfortable for everyone attending.

Outside of dog friendly screenings, dogs are generally not permitted in cinema screens unless they are assistance dogs. However, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the café areas.

Food, Drinks, and Events

Alongside the cinema experience, Chester Picturehouse offers a café and bar serving drinks, snacks, and light meals throughout the day.

Visitors can enjoy coffee, cakes, soft drinks, wines, beers, and cinema favourites before or after a film. The venue also hosts a variety of special events, including live broadcasts, themed screenings, and community activities.

The café creates a welcoming social space and provides another reason to visit, even when you’re not heading into a screening.
